How-to 'Cron Jobs'?

I was looking high and low for this, where should I look up to doing 'cron job'? Thanks for reading and any replying. 🙂

Thanks for the reference. But I'm not sure if I'll benefit from there as I have no luxury to access a unix system for this. I'm testing this on my notebook (WinMe) with Apache/Php/MySql.

hi jem,

in Windows2000 theres an OS command called 'at'. i have not worked with it but it seems to be the equivalent to cron. maybe maybe WinME features the command too. you'll get info how to use it by typing ' at /? '.

I believe WinMe do not have such things, simply coz it is NOT WinNT-class OS... Well, I know what a 'family' OS can do and not do. I can't help but be stuck with it not only coz the notebook comes with it but also the fact that there are no drivers available in other OS platform like linux for my notebook.

I've just given MS site a check a few mins ago, all CRON information points to MS Services for UNIX, or WinNT/Win2K platform only. expected actually

I've read it somewhere not too long ago, something abt compiling php as a cgi module(?) I'm not so sure if this helps but it did mention cron in that article. I'm sorry I can't point u to it, as I was reading rather heavily and there's simply too many links to trace back if I should try to find out where. 🙁

Compiling PHP as a cgi module will not get you what you need.

Your best bet is to use a different OS... winME is just asking for more headaches than you can imagine if its to be your production environment.

Failing that... pray that you can get the windows scheduler to run the scripts for you shudder

on php installation:
there are three different ways to plug php into a webserver : as a module OR cgi OR ISAPI.

WinApache config currently only works reliable with CGI, that's what you'll have. the isapi is available but still under development & not stable enough for production use.

although the type of install gives you slightly different possibilities (example: access to HTTP Basic Auth Data when using the module) i don't think that the module will allow you to do cron jobs on WinME since cron is a OS command of UNIX/Linux boxes !!! So either install a real(TM) OS like Linux/Win2k on your box or test your scripts on a such a webserver !!! that's no big deal.

Here\'s something that might work, I haven\'t used it but it looks like it may be what you need. It runs under 9x and NT, i think it should work on Win ME.
