mysql: maximun records: how many?

hello!
i am on a win 2000 machine and i have this problem.
i try with while clause to insert 30 records at a time.
i run 1st time the script : total 30 records
2nd: 60
4th: 120
5th: 127 and if try more times it does not insert any record.

so there must be 127 the most records in a table.

do you know where it is being declared?

yeah...no...maybe..
well actually there is a MAX value for the records, but I doubt it is possible to reach it, much less it is 127 🙂 add 10 zeros to it

What does the table design look like?
127 sounds like the limit of a TINYINT.

Maybe you have a TINYINT column as primary key, with an auto_increment and unique index.
Every time you insert a record, the auto_increment increases the value of the column by one, untill it reaches 127. A TINYINT field cannot contains numbers larger than 127.
So when you try to insert the 128th record, the primary key field should contain 128. But 128 is not possible in a TINYINT, so it will be 127.
But 127 already exists for the 127th record, so the query must fail.
