Fetch Access back into Access

I need, very badly, to make a php3 file for moving data from an old Access file,
assign a new ID and then put that data into a new Access file.
The while loop I made worked only on the first row, then it stops at the second
with this : Warning: SQL error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]COUNT field incorrect , SQL state 07001 in

What the f... does that say ?

I think I know what'd causing it, as I can recreate it on my site, which ain't php3 (in fact the script causing the problem is perl). This means that it's an MS-Access driver issue.
I found that it is caused when you try to write over 255 chars to a memo field. I've tried resetting the longreadlen from 50k (already excessive) to 100k (over excessive) and it does nothing. I don't think it's to do with the length of the overall sql query, either, since adding fields to the query also seemed to make no difference. I haven't found a workaround to it, so I'm porting my site to the mysql library (I have other reasons as well). I find Access nice to spec. out a new database or do the whole lot in Access, but it's a pile of arse if you use sql and/or web stuff with it.
