Netscape and mySQL problems

First of, in IE5 and Netscape 6 what I'm doing is working, BUT in Netscape 4.7 it doesn't. Here's what's happenning. I am trying to load a page that displays my queries (5-15)into a table(50-100 cells). Netscape will take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to display them if at all. Sometimes if it doesn't display the table, it will pop up the message "This server is currently overloaded - please try again later". I'm the only one on the server! Any clue as to why it's doing this and what is happening and how to fix it? Keep in mind IE5 and N6 work perfectly fine. There are other queries on my website which select only single rows, and they work fine. It seems to be the queries of multiple rows that's giving Netscape problems.

Large tables are netscape's enemy.
I hopy that you don't mean a table of 15 rows with 100 columns each?

Netscape 4 and the like can not handle large tables like that. The only thing I can recommend is to cut down on the content or the tables. Usually you can achieve the same thing with breaks, spaces, lists, etc. w/o using so many tables.

One thing that will help tremendously is to define the table width, and each cell width in the table(where possible). NS will not display the table until it has calculated every cell width and height. If you provide the values for these, it will cut down on your machine's processing time dramatically.

i agree with everyone else, tables are netscape 4.x's worst enemy.
for instance, netscape does not like this page:
http://www.sun.com/datacenter/superg/tokyo/index.html (this page WILL load, just be patient...) this is a page that i built for sun.com, luckily i cannot claim the color choice as my own, but the code is.

what's more, the re-draw engine in netscape 4.x is slow, inaccurate, and set to re-draw the page every time you resize it, unlike IE.

unfortunately, we all have to build and test for netscape users, but M$IE is a far superior browser.
