Hi all,
i nedd to compile php with "--with-oci8" on a FreeBSD 4-STABLE to access our Oracle Database. Will it work when i only copy the $ORACLE_HOME dir (v 8.1.6) from a running Linux-box to my BSD and set $ORACLE_HOME and install linux_base there? Or do i nedd to apply major changes to the system?

I'm trying this also. You will see, that the compiler will go into the $ORA_HOME and fetch some linrary. That means, you have to install Oracle under FreeBSD.
