voting script

I have a form with a drop down with over 60 choices and a text box where people can enter a value, this is connected to a two column table. I want to show the top few votes and list the number of votes. I am not real clear on how to call this for my page, if anyone could point me to some information or answers I would be greatful. I am writing in php3 and using mySQL.

If you want to get the top 5 of most-voted entries, you coult use something like this:

SELECT count(*),vote FROM votes_table GROUP BY vote ORDER BY 1 desc LIMIT 5

The manual explains how to get data from MySQL back into your page.

Um, I hardly speak this language. I'm a WYSIWYG guy, maintaining a site with FrontPage on a server running Linux, and I'm looking for some voting script/software so that I can make it easy for visitors to rate different links I send them to.

Something like the stars rating on Amazon, Netflix, Tucows.
