Large text fields in MS Access

Hello everyone. I hope someone can help me with the following problem. I have a database in MS Access that I export as a .txt then load into a mysql table via "load data local infile 'file'". However, one of the fields in my Access db is really messing up this usually smooth process. I have a memo field that stores large chunks of text. I have returns and spaces in the field and Access does not like that at all. So I decided to try and put html tags right into the field but that doesn't work either! I am trying to get this info into access and I can't. I am exporting tab delimited, no text qualifier (which almost always works). Can anyone tell me what is going wrong?

Wups.. I overlooked something very simple. Putting quotes around the text block solved the prob.

But if you output that field... those quotes will appear. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of those?

MS-Access is cute for creating reports on small numbers of data.
If you want to do things bigger, use MySQL.
If you want to go even bigger, go for postgres or MS-SQL.
And if you want to go evern bigger, go for oracle.
And for the biggest: informix.

Access is a fly-weight database-ish thing. It doesn't like large numbers of data, nor does it like large fields.

It's a nice product, but there are nicer products out there.

I do use MySQL. The only thing is, I manage the database in Access before loading the data into MySQL. Is there any GUI that I could use so I could skip over Access and work directly with MySQL? That would solve the problem.

I'm sure you could get Accessto use an ODBC connection to a MySQL database.

And there's allways phpMyAdmin if you want to hack directly into the mysql database.
