update problem?

Have anyone recogize why my mysql code didnt work? Code below?

mysql> UPDATE GO, SGD SET GO.G1=SGD.G1, GO.G2=SGD.G2 WHERE GO.G3 = SGD.G3;

Errors generated like

ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near ' SGD SET GO.Gene=SGD.Gene, GO.GeneID=SGD.GeneID WHERE GoNum = SGD.GoNum'
at line 1

Sorry, I didn't paste correctly. Followed code tested couple of times, not work.

mysql> UPDATE GO, SGD SET GO.G1=SGD.G1, GO.G2=SGD.G2 WHERE GO.G3=SGD.G3;

UPDATE doesn't let you enter data into more than one column.

You may want to read the MySQL manual about SQL syntax.

you can't update the content of table if it is more then one table....

means your "update Go, SGD" will never work..

as per what i know......
