How Do I Stop This Thing

how do i stop mysql

On Unix Systems:
Logged in as root
#mysqladmin -p shutdown

On Windows Systems:
either <ctl><alt><del> for Win98
or Tasks Manager for NT
End Mysqld task

That should do it.

If running as service under NT or 2000.

The following command wil do the trick

'net stop mysql'

to start it again

'net start mysql'

You might need to go to the shell prompt to run those commands in which case click Start... Run... command.com

Under Linux type ps aux look for the mysqld and the PID associated wiit it and then type 'kill X' replace X with the PID.
