PHP + MSSQL on IIS webserver

I've succesfully installed php on an NT server with IIS as webserver. I want to use MS SQL server as a database application and I 've tried to connect to the database with php functions mssql_connect() and so on, but I always get the message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mssql_connnect()

What's wrong? Should I use an ODBC-driver for MS SQL server?

Hi Johan,

Did you uncomment in the dynamic extensions section the following extension=php_mssql.dll?

You have to type on the Paths and Directories
section the extension_dir = your extension path.

All this in your Php.ini file.

From what I have heard you do have to use PHP's ODBC drivers to connect to a MS SQL database. However I dont know where to go to get them at this point.

Well, I'm not an expert in PHP, but I do this.

I have running an Apache Web Server over Windows NT 4.0 Server, I've sucesesfully
installed PHP as module, and I just redirect the extesions path and uncomment the php_mssql.dll in the extensions section. All this in the php.ini

I've developped a little news application in VB, so, I do the changes that I want, and
automatically the changes are showed on my Web page !!

I do not have to use the ODBC's Drivers !

In no expert either, that is just what I have seen documented. The original poster is using IIS, so what is done on Apache may or may not be relevant. shrug

PHp is working excellent now with an ODBC driver. Does anybody know how you can connect directly to mssql? (PHP settings seem ok). I suppose the deviation through an odbc is slower than a direct connection.

Sorry, everything (odbc and direct connection) works miraculously now. One question left. ODBC or direct connection? Does somebody know where you can find an example of a full mssql query?

the mysql website, i think. i do have them, but can't recall where i got them exactly.
