Query/Oracle/Unix Timestamp

How do I query on an Oracle database that has Unix timestamps as values? Let's say I want to query for the entire month of August on column "Sent" which contains Unix timestamp values.

Can I use a PHP function to get the Unix timestamp of the month of August 1 to August 31 or does Oracle have a function that will do it?

Yep, I did that right after I posted the question and figured it out.

$month = date("m");
$year = date("Y");

$date1 = mktime (0,0,0,$month,1,$year);
$date2 = mktime (0,0,0,$month,31,$year);

print "Date1: $date1 and Date2: $date2";

Now I can query using $date1 and $date 2.

Oracle doesn't have any built in functions to give you the unix timestamp. You can use the php mktime() function to get what you need

and then use the results in your select query.

You may want to use the "0" day option instead of the "31"

From the manual:
The last day of any given month can be expressed as the "0" day of the next month, not the -1 day. Both of the following examples will produce the string "The last day in Feb 2000 is: 29".

Example 2. Last day of next month

$lastday = mktime (0,0,0,3,0,2000);
echo strftime ("Last day in Feb 2000 is: %d", $lastday);

$lastday = mktime (0,0,0,4,-31,2000);
echo strftime ("Last day in Feb 2000 is: %d", $lastday);
