rowid in Mysql

What is the rowid?

Is it created automatically or do I have to create it manually and set it to auto_increment?

If I have a databse already created, how can I add a rowid?

Does it have to be the first column or it doesn't matter?

It doesn't matter which column will be your rowid.
As you know you should add column useing alter table.

Try something like this in MySQL:

alter table table_name add column id int(10) auto_increment primary key first;

But if you already have some scripts which use select * from table not select col_name1, col_name2 ... from table it will breaks your script.

Best is adding rowid column as last.
