Does PHP support Oracle 9???

Hi all. Quick question here. The university I work at just upgraded to Oracle 9i, and I'm just wondering if PHP will support it. The sysadmins haven't had a chance to set up php for me yet, so I haven't been able to muck around and find out.

If someone could let me know when they get a chance it would be greatly appreciated. If it isn't supported, then it's time for me to start learning PL/SQL.

I already looked there, and since it says PHP supports Oracle 7 and 8, but has no mention of 9 since 9 has only recently been released, I figured I'd ask if anyone had any experience using it with 9.

However, I assume that if I use the standard set of oracle functions they would work?

In reading my PHP book, I'd be tempted to say that if you can work with the Oracle 9i database using the Oracle 8 interface library, that you might be able to make it work.

(Remember that PHP has the ora_ functions for versions 7 and 8, and then the oci functions for Oracle 8 libraries with support for LOB, FILE and ROWIDs)

This is just a guess. I'm using 8i and have no plans to upgrade to 9i. I guess it depends on the client software you have installed on your webserver and if it's backwards compatible with 8i.
