creating tables in php

i\'m having a problem creating a table in my php script. it doesn\'t create it at all. here\'s the function..
the opendb() function works because i use it for all the other connections.

function createtables($memberid)
{
$journal=\"journal\";
$memberjournal=\"$memberid$journal\";
$createjournal=\"CREATE TABLE $memberjournal (no int unsigned not null auto_increment, entry text, time timestamp)\";
opendb();
$resultjournal=mysql_query($createjournal);
}

oops. the slashes was added by the script in this forum. not by me.

Put some error checking in using mysql_error() and you'll immediately see you problem. It's to do with auto columns and keys . ..

It appears that you are creating a table with three attributes (or fields) and they are no, entry, and time.

I would put some single quotes around the names, and TIME is a valid field type in mysql, mysql can probably figure out the ambiguity if you put single quotes around it, but it is better not to name your fields or tables after mysql reserved words.
