MSAcces reliable?

Hi,

I've heard that if you would make a large database MSAcces would not be reliable anymore. Could someone tell by which number of records i could use MSAcces without problems. Is that with 1,000 10,000 100,000 or a million records?

Personally I'd say 2 would be pushing it.

MS Access doesn't run have a server...all the logic to query the database is in the client.

Just use a free database and don't use access for anything important. This is experience: My work has had difficulty with corrupted databases when multiple people were connected to the same access database (btw, I didn't make the choice to use msaccess 🙂 )

Considering how well both postgresql and MSSQL work as underlying databases for the latest version of access, I'd have to agree. Access is a nice datamodeler for simple stuff, but let a real dbms underneath it handle the heavy lifting.

MSAccess bombs at about 1,000,000 record queries, and corrupts at a drop of a hat!
Its only good for small data migration tasks and keeping track of recipes!
