mysql timestamp field

Hi all,

I need an update on my table. but I have a timestamp field called
t_stamp. When I update a field other than t_stamp field, t_stamp field
also updates to now(). I need it not to update and saves its value.

How should I do this?

I don't think you can, I believe that the time stamp field exists for just that purpose, to update itself everytime the record changes.

You might need to use the field type of DATETIME and generate the value you want in it, then update that field when necessary.

I am not an expert, but I think this is your best route.

i do not quite understand your problem.

if this t_stamp is a timestamp field, it will always change the value whenever you change that record, to update this field "manually" you have to have a datetime field.
