unique array

What I want to do is select all rows from a database where one specific field is common. Then I want to compare the rest of the fields and make a 2 dimensional array with just the unique fields. Please help please.

So you want to get a list of records where the content of one column is NOT 'bla', and you want that list to have only unique values for that column?

SELECT distinct(column)
FROM table
WHERE column <> 'bla';

What I have is an excel document with all of a company's products. There are many products within each model (a specific product is determined by optional attributes like color or size).

What I wanted to do was select all products that have the same model number, compare the columns and pass unique columns to their own separate arrays and print whatever columns are not unique one time on the page.

Since there are 50 attributes I do not want to call the database 50 times for each product. I would rather "selct * from table_name where model_number = 46278" then compare columns.

I know common values should be in one table and unique values should be in another table but I was hoping for a work-around. Is there one?

I'm sorry for all this. Let me put it another way.

select * from table_name

I know how to make each row an array but how would you make each column an array? (you can only use one select query to the database)

That's simple:

run your query, then do something like this:

While ($aRow = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC))
{
$aArray1[] = $aRow['this'];
$aArray2[] = $aRow['that'];
};

print_r($aArray1);

what I mean is select distinctrow field_1,field_2,field_3 from table... this should give you what you need without combing through a resultset to identify unique records...

Example:

FIELD_1 FIELD_2 FIELD_3
1111 red small
1111 red medium
1111 red medium

the above query would give you
1111,red,small
1111,red,med

That sounds like what you are trying to do... let me know if I'm misunderstanding you. (Note that distinctrow is MS specific, I don't think it works in other databases.)
