Import excel files in Postgres

Hi,
I've installed PHP3 and Postgres, I've created my database and tables, prepared the queryes, but now the question is: How can I import the data that I've already on excel sheets, in Postgres?
I tried with the dbase functions, but php says that dbase commands are unknown...

Help!!!

Export excel as tab separated or comma separated data.

Then use postgres command line tools and the COPY command. RTFM for details.

I don't know of any generic scripts for converting excel spreadsheets to a Postgres table, but it shouldn't be too hard to take the "*.csv" file, read the first row for the culumn names, and execute an sql to create the table. Your script can then read subsequent rows to add the data.
