Best Data-type for monetary values...

Hi, I've been working on a simple product database query engine for the past few hours, and I noticed that, using a float data-type for the prices of products causes them to leave the 0's off the end of prices that end with a decimal with a 0 ending (ex. 12.50 turns to 12.5). This isn't a severe problem, but it would be more pleasing to see them displayed in a monetary way. I tried several other data types, incuding 'money' which gave an error saying that I was inserting a float8 value instead of a money value. I have heard that the data-type money was outdated, and was wondering which would be the best datatype to use for displaying the two decimal points.

I think this is problem with displaying the value whichever you have been stored in database.
If the thing is so, then there is one option in reporting tool like D2k-report writer or fox-pro report writer wich will display in decimal digit what ever you want to display. Means you can display 12.5 as 12.50 or 12.500 or whatever u want.
In D2k there is option 'add decimal' on reporing tool. So whatever tool you are using for output must have that option so please check this option. It might have formatmask for the displaying field you are using. Please confirm the formatmask or 'add decimal' option.
