Guys, I want to write news program for website. I want to use PHP&MySQL but I saw that most of online newspapers don\'t use database but they generate pages at directories like http://website.com/news/2001/10/12/365.
Why they do so? And how after generating html they can modify file?

Well, for starters, chances are good that the directory you see as "news" is not a directory at all, but a program that reads the path following at as data to retireve the real file.
