mysql>php>flash

Hi

we have devloped a mysql database using php to show the database entries on the flash frontend. Everyting is working fine except that IE 5.0 crashes when we try to load the page. On Mac (IE 5.0) we are having problems with the reload function.

NC is working fine.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Are you concatenating your strings properly? i.e.
echo "$yoursvariable1=$yourvalue1&$yourvariable2=$yourvalue2&........"; etc
we've used mysql, php and flash here with no problems. I would assume that the format of the variables you are passing to flash is causing a problem.

can you give me an example of how this would work. I don't know how it works, i tried to make one and it just give's me illegal character error for the variable name!

we are doing it exactly the same way as you except that the numbers are generated automatically. On Mac IE 5.0 it works fine except when we hit the reload button several time we get: URL not found. After that we hit the reload button again, then everything works fine again.

On PC IE 5.0 it still crashes straight out.

Sorry I made a mistake, the guy who does flash here at work said that the flash variables must all sit in ampersands i.e
echo "&$yoursvariable1=$yourvalue1& &$yourvariable2=$yourvalue2&........";
This means that to pass the variables, value pairs to flash they must all sit with ampersands as if the ampersands were quotes.

Hope this works.

it might be the zero.
Flash starts counting at 1.

save the php generated file as regular text and have flash read that. That will tell you if it is PHP or Flash that is causing the problem.

You may also be loading the variables into the wrong layer or into a loop.

we are doing it exactly as you say except that we do not put an & at the end of every variable. We only put an & in the beginning of every variable. Also we do not put a space between the variables.

Also we found out that Flash has several export possibilities and that IE 5 is not always compatible.

hi folks found this through a engine search. are you able to get multiple rows from the mysql db to display in your flash front end? if so how?

i'm able to pass only the last row in the query from the php script to the flash.
