Problem with MySql database repair!

I am try to repair a damaged table by using myisamchk in a Linux system.
But I am getting following error, what I am doing wrong?

./myisamchk: error: 'mydatabase.MYD' doesn't have a correct index definition

[[deleted]]

myisamchk -h

there are options you need to use to get it to repair.

Yes, I tried with many diff. switches but non of them helped. still getting the same error!
