SQL-DMO(ODBC SQL State:42000)

Using SQL 2000 I am trying to retore only the transaction log file. But it is giving me an error SQL-DMO(ODBC SQL State:42000). The alert message diplayed says

Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQL State:42000)

The preceding retore operation did not specify WITH RECOVERY or WITH STANDBY. Restart the restore sequence, specifying WITH NO RECOVERY or WITH STANDBY for all but the final step.
RESTORE LOG is terminating abnormally.

I'd like to have ur feedback about how to solve this problem so that I can back up the transaction log. Thanks in advance.
