Chat reflesh in period of time

Dear all,

I use php language to write a chatroom which have to reflesh every 10 seconds by adding the meta code (reflesh=10) in the beginning of the webpage. When each time the webpage is refleshed, there is a sharp "white flash" at each transition. Why? How to remove such "white flash"? If we make the transition very smoothly, how can I do?

I don't think u can remove this "flash" yet u can use it! Your answer to yuor problems is using Flash 5.0 to make a .swf frontend and use your php/mysql behind the scenes to manage the input.

You can also make a refresh button for the user, yet it might not be the perfect solution.

I have not used any macromedia flash program in my chat pages.
