That is not entirely right. MySQL in it's latest BETA I think supports Transactions, but only with transaction safe tables, as Berkely DB table files. Check the MySQl documentation for this (http://www.mysql.com/documentation/)
Now to the OP's questions, I have no idea. Sorry.. But MySQL does as you said does work in autocommit mode by default, so if that was your worry, no need to worry about it.. You won't have any problems with that.
