MySQL and multiple languages with PHP

Well last time I posted this kind of question I got no answere so let's try it again.

I'm developing a webportal which I have to build in 3 languages and has the ability to grow to 4 or 5.

The page will be updated via a webbased admin.
When ppl add some stuff to the dB they have to do that in 3 languages (or more), I may let them check if the specific lang. will be used or not.

Should I :
a. put three languages in 1 table.
b. put three tables in one dB with different languages.
c. create three seperate dB's ?

Hope somebody gives me a hint 🙂

All other things being equal, you want to let language be a column in the table. Put three languages in one table, as you put it.

Using three separate db's could be very difficult depending on your app framework. Most frameworks assume one database.

Putting three languages in one tbl is one thing adding one language is a second and the problem starts adding it to the administration.

The idea I had yesterday looks like this :

Newsitems : [Date][ID]
News : [Lang][Header][Text][NewsID][ID]
Images : [Tbl][TblID][Imagename][ID]

In this way I can store the Languages in an array that I use in the admin and in the website I can check on "empty languages".

Do think it's a pretty good idea, agree ?
