MySQL upgrade

I need to upgrade mysql and need some advice before I proceed.

I know how to backup and restore databases.

Will the new version of mysql preserve my db tables after the install, and are there any measures I need to take for the upgrade?

My install is on win32 platform.

I'm not shure if the new version of MySQL will preserve your tables. Check the MySQL website for that info. I run MySQL 3.23.47 on windows XP pro, and i have not problems. One thing i do suggest is that you perform dumps, ect. to backup any information you have in the databases. This will save you headaches later on if you do encounter a problem, or MySQL does not preserve your data.

I did a dump of a db from 3.22, and successfully restored it to a test 3.23.47 server.

I was just being cautious, that was why I posted the question here, since this is my first upgrade.
