interbase and datetime

please: do not tell me that i can not make in interbase query like:

insert into mytable (datetime_a) values ('now' + X second) ...

[ or using some function, like dateadd on ms sql ]

of course, i can use an udf, but in case i do not want to?!? for other databases i know it's a jam.
