display 2 tables

Hi, I am having trouble showing 2 different tables on a php page. They have both the same sytax, except the sceond access to the databse calls for $var1 e.g.

1st call:
$var
2nd call:
$var1

So now when i connect, the second form display's correctly, but the first form does not, although it calls for the same jobs to be done.

Can anyone please explain why this is so?
