Postgresql using blobs vs text

I am attempting to store large articles which may be in html format. These articles will be submitted by users via a form. Should I store the articles as text type or an oid?

if you're storing text, the TEXT type sounds logical. What did you have in mind to do with the oid?

I think she mean a large object.

Given the problems with backing up LOs and their basically hackish nature in postgresql, I would recommend storing even binary objects as text type with base 64 encoding to ensure easy backup and restore of the database.

Yes, I meant large objects like Scott had said. You are right it makes sense storing it as a text, but I just wanted to make sure.
