MySQL DB connection failed

Our typical mySQL/PHP configuration, on Redhat 6.2 Linux - PHP 4.0, MySQL 3.23.45

hard disk space - 3 GB alloted for MySQL
memory physical - 126 MB
Swap Memory available - 256 MB

On one occassion, MySQL connection failed and when i saw the logs it said .

Error in accept: Cannot allocate memory
Error in accept: Cannot allocate memory
Error in accept: Cannot allocate memory

Any idea why it happens and what to do about it ?

Sounds like something to do with permissions... but dont hold me to that... im not expert yet... but getting there... if not... there is a problem with your mysql installation... if permissions aint the right answer then reinstall of mysql should do it..

I THINK.... hope someone else has exact answer cos i would like to be sure of that as well.. think i had it before i went for redhat

I don't think there is anything to do with permissions. Most of the time 98% the server is up and running including MySQL. Only in some rare occasions i get this sort of Error in the error log. The website will have this crapy message coming up that can't connect to MySQL DB.
All the tables, database are intact.

The website at times remain very busy, it is a game site. i reckon because of the load on the server, somewhere it runs out of memory or can't allocate, that is what i figure out from Log file.

But, what is the solution and remedy to this error ?

I can't upgrade or re-install MySQL on this Live server. It is already a recent version and stable one. Installation was thru RPMs, straight forward installaion.

something has to do with memory control or kernel i reckon.

Still waiting for solution.
