phpMyAdmin - blank index page!

hi guys!

i'm quite a newbie in php. i installed phpMyAdmin, but cant seem 2 get it right..there's a blank white screen displayed when index.php is loaded. any help out there from anyone who's faced this bfore or know how 2 solve this?

in the config part, there are vars that i suspect i may have not done correctly, one is the host name, the ohe the MySQL host. Can anyone explain 2 me on this? its all running on my local machine using Windows 98.

I also use mysql, myphpadmin and win98. the programme works without problems, I changed absolutely nothing, I copied all the files to a directory and executed the index.php. MySQL hostname: localhost.
MySQL user: root
(set by default anyway)
nothing else is needed. maybe it's rather a problem with php than with mysql, since myphpadmin is a php programme. check your server error logs

open a random page first.

step1: open the index.php of phpMyAdmin(or index.php3 anyway)

step2: click on the Back button on your browser

step3: click on the forward button, then see waht happens.

I THINK you need mysqld.exe running (c:MySQL/bin or wherever you installed it)
But im a newbie too....so i dunno

no, if mysql is not running, the phpmyadmin will show an error message, something like "can't connect to mysql database". happens often on my computer, since I always forget to start the mysql server. but if only a blank page is displayed, the problem is somewhere else.

Thanks guys for ur help! and yeah, hkn, i've gotta turn on mysqld.exe at the same time! no wonder nothing came on! i now make mysqld.exe run upon startup of my pc..silly me...at least its running well now 🙂
