Shameless plug for YAPF

I posted this in the 'general' forum, but that seems to have died completely now... (don't you love MySQL?)

While PHPBuilder is falling apart, YAPF is being constructed.

We have an FAQ (that everybody can contribute to) that aims to explain basic and advanced issues in a 'foolproof, if you dont understand this you cannot read' way, and a forum with PHP syntax highlighting.

Feel free to have a look at it and let me know what you think.

First I'd like to apologize for not replying to your earlier posts, many of which have helped me out. PHPBuilder has been having problems which prevented me from doing so.

Which browser are you using, what errors do you get?

I put the url:

into my browser (IE 5.0, no patches that I'm aware of,) and it gives a blank page and says "Done" in the status bar, at the bottom left. I just tried sticking index.html and index.htm on the end in case that mattered, but then it gave a file not found error with an orange triangle. (The orange triangle doesn't appear when I don't stick the filenames on the end.)

That's all. I'm at work, behind some sort of firewall/proxy combo. I don't see how that would affect it, but in case it might...

hey Vince,

I did have a problem registering, it basically just displayed sadfsadf... string at the top, thats it (looked like some sorta bedugging) either way, it didnt register me. Also, i emailed the link bugs@vindev.xs4all.nl and got it bounced... I really like the site though, i think its better than this.

Could you please check to see if you got any cookies from the yapf site? I am using a custom cookie-set routine that apparently doesn't do it's job every time. 🙁

Which OS and browser are you using, and what code do you use to set cookies? :-)

I was under the impression that most cookie data was meant to be hidden, so that you can't change it? Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but that's what I thought anyway.

You can see all the cookies that websites set, nothing secret about it. In fact, the data is sent back and forth in plaintext, so security is zero.

OK, i just registered and got the "thanks you can log in now" message. when i did, i got unknown user message. I set IE to prompt for cookies, but got no prompt either.

vincent... you seem an ass load smarter than this!

are you using sessions? i think that would be much better. then you could show stuff like number of responses this session, ratings... and other stuff.

i think the people that ask questions should be able to rate anyone that replies, so you know if you are getting reputtable advice or not.

I am an assload smarter :-) it's just that here in my dev environment I cannot simulate every browser out there. I need the help of you guys to test it and let me know what's wrong.

apparently there is some situation where the whole thing outputs a blank page (cute but not nice) and one where cookies are not stored properly... I'm working on it.

OK, it just worked, i got the secret and id cookies set and logged in.

i'm on IE 5.0....... HOPEFULLY that would be the first browser you would support!!

i tried a couple times and it never worked.
