Someone help, I've lost all the feelling in my legs because I'm spending too much time in front of my computer. So... Riddle me this Batman..

You've got a sound file, you want to store descriptive data in your database in regards to this sound file(filesize,filename,format,etc). You want to create a keyword search function, but don't know the most elegant way to store that keyword data in your database.. Do you...

A) Create an individual table for each keyword and place foreign keys in the master sound file table?

😎 Add a bazillion columns to your already bloated sound file table and throw caution to the wind?

C) Ask the guys at Phpbuilder for the correct solution?

D) Sell your computers, max out your credit cards and lock yourself into a room fool of hookers in Vegas?

E) None of the above...

"D" is the obvious answer...

i'd do it like thus (answer "B"):

CREATE TABLE sound (id INT AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, local_file_path VARCHAR(255), file_size INT, file_name VARCHAR(255), file_format INT);

CREATE TABLE format (id INT AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, file_format VARCHAR(255));

unique data in its own table as everything is depenedent on the file. repetitive info in its seperate table. artist & album info goes into its own table.
