Selecting from the bottom up?

I need an easy way to display the newest records in the database first. Is there a way I can select the rows from the bottom up with MySQL?

Well, the order of the records in a table isn't necessarily the chronological order of the record insertion. If records are deleted, the next insert will take up the first empty field. A sure fire way to do this is to add a field to the table that contains a time stamp. Then you can select and order descending according to the timestamp.

How can I select them in order according to the time stamp? Can I use 'datetime', or does it have to be a time stamp?

The field type should be DATETIME. A time stamp should be used to insert the current date and time into record at the time or insertion.

I know that there is an issue of getting the unix and mysql formats to work together.
first you have to to a mktime and then insert the data with FROM_UNIXTIME. Hopefully someone will post that can clear this up.
