Ok guys

This is my first time at loading phpmyadmin and somthing strange is happening and i cant seem to find out what the issue is!

I modified the config.ins.php to include the user name and password for the sql database and then uploaded the phpmyadmin folder to the the root of my ftp server. when i go to the page the main body of the page loads but their is nothing on the left hand frame! then after about five mins the smae page throws up a "MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)" message! but if i upload the config.ins.php to the ftp server again it works (apart from the left hand frame not appearing

I am trying to follow the instruction but am having no luck

any way from scratch what do i need to modify in the config.ins.php?

Well, I've never heard this problem. It sounds like you aren't connecting with your database at all. The left hand frame shows your database. Make sure you are using the right usr,pwd, and database.

This is the thing! I am not sure in which way phpmyadmin works. ie does it connect to a sql db on the webserver ?

i am using subdomaining would this matter?

is their any info on the web on the way that the phpmyadmin works with sql?

Iv just revived an eemail that i recived from the people that i have the subdomian with and they say:

Results of creating MySQL account 'antjoule':

Database "antjoule" created.
User 'antjoule' created successfully.

so do i need to but the db name (antjoule) in to the config file . otherwise how does phpmyadmin find the DB??

phpMyAdmin is working fine, you just have no tables in your database. Use the field that says "create new table on <i>database name</i>" and you'll be set.

Do you know much about MySQL? If you don't, you should look around the internet for some tutorials about basic database design, and SQL syntax. After that you should be set.

I am gonna be running nuke phpnuke on the site to start and on the notes it mentions a browse button which you upload the ready made DB?

Is this right ?

I don't know too much about phpNuke (I'm in the middle of writing my own CMS, but from what I've heard about Nuke it's a pretty good CMS) but I'm sure you'll be fine if your just follow the faq.
