Difference between extension php and inc

Dear all,

What is the difference between the file extensions .php and .inc. Is it related to the security? The file extension .inc cannot be directly called and read. Is it safe if the login and password is placed at the file .inc? Thanks for your advice.

php = server side parsed file.
inc = Client side parsed file.

Basicly unless you told apache that .inc is a php file use .php!

If you look at a .inc with php in it you will see the code, witch is bad.

Hi there! Actually it is just coding styles people use. .inc basically is a sympol for or extension used for a file that is to be included. For example, if I use include 'connection.inc', this is a php file with php code and but just the extension is inc to indicate that this is an include file. You can even use 'connection.php' as an include file and it would not make any difference. Now whether it is .inc or .php file, you must add php tags in that file, where required.
