select 5 newest threads

Hi,

I want to select the 5 newest threads but I have no date on the threads, just on the posts

thread : t_id, topic
post : p_id, poster, text, date, t_fk

which means that I need a select that results in the the 5 topics with the newest posts...

please help..

select * from thread left join post on thread.t_id=post.t_fk order by post.date desc limit 5

try that. not sure though.

what does it do? how about:

select DISTINCT * from thread left join post on thread.t_id=post.t_fk order by post.date desc limit 5
