Simple Query ?????

Hi all,

I have got tow fields in my MySql databse like "height1" and "height2" ..

field Height1 is Feet.
and field Height2 is inch.

I want to write a Sql Query to search the member's whose Heights are between

05 feet 06 inch to 06 feet 00 inch

I have written it like this but it's search all the members and not fullfilling the critaria ..where I am wrong ??

"and ((my_height1>='05' and my_height2>='06') or (my_height1<='06' and my_height2<='00')) "

Any Idea ??

i think this is happening due to
my_height1<='06' this particular part of your query, due to this it brings all the records that are less than 6 and height2<=0, as this is coming in OR with rest of the query.

inspite of this you try the query below

"and ((my_height1='05' and my_height2>='06') or (my_height1='06' and my_height2='00')) "

Personally, I would do something like this:

SELECT FROM Table WHERE
((Height1 12) + Height2) >= ((5 12) + 6)
AND ((Height1 12) + Height2) <= ((6 * 12) + 0)

Basically, the theory is to find the lowest common denominator (which is inches), and work on that.

Please make it a bit clear..

Besically four field are comming from a form..like..
user wants to search ..

From
height1 = feet
height2 = inch
To
height3 = feet
height4 =inch

and in database i have had two fields

my_height1 = feet
my_height2 = inch

so the search will fetch the value between from (height1 and height2) and (height3 and height4)

Nothing has worked yet 🙁 🙁

From
height1 = feet

To
height3 = feet
height4 =inch

TABLE FIELDS

my_height1 = feet
my_height2 = inch

The code will be

SELECT FROM table_name WHERE
((my_height1 12) + my_height2) >= ((height1 12) + height2)
AND ((my_height1 12) + my_height2) <= ((height3 * 12) + height4)

try this, i have tested it, it worked fine
