inserting data into mysql via email

Hi
I'm relatively new to php .. i wanted to how can the following be done

I want to transfer data from a mail server using php into the mysql database

Its something like theis

I type something in my compose form and send it. Now i want the php program to pick this data up form the mail server and insert it inot a table in the mysql database.

This can be done...it will require that you run a a php script from some type of scheduler, let's say cron. It will also require that you use something like the imap functions to check the mail.

Another why of doing it would be to use procmail to start a php script and parse the email when it is recieved.
