Mysql->Access->VB (urgent)

Dear All,

Currently my homepage is hosted by one hosting company at US. The server consists of Mysql, PHP3 and etc. Every weeked I need to do some reporting on member status and information. I am going to write a Visual Basic program for reporting.

Question 1:
How to get all the data from mysql database and import everything to MS Access 2000.

Question 2:
What kind of events I need to consider

Question 3:
Any other suggestions

Why on earth are you going to write a VB program when you have everything in PHP/MySQL??

At a minimum I'd take Access out of the way and use VB to work with MySQL directly.

I am going to write a window application to do reporting. I don't know how to connect my VB application with Mysql. I just know use Access. So if I am now going to connect VB program with Mysql, what should I do ? And how to do ? Thank you.

You can use ODBC to get access to MySQL database from VB. Try to download MyODBC from:

http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-myodbc.html

In a related topic, I am currently writing a PHP frontend to an old employee access database. The downside is that the users are going to want to use the old access database as well as the new web interface I am sure. As far as I know, I should just be able to link the tables from MySQL to Access and they can do all they want in access and the MySQL database will be the database that is updated.

This will be especially handy when they want to print their labels and things as designing a web table to print the labels (or any other reports they run) will not be as easy.

Am I right in assuming the linking will go without a hitch? Is there an easy way to redesign the reports through my web pages so they cant print preformatted labels from their browsers?

Actually I have already installed the MyODBC to my window PC. I have two PC, one for linux, another one for windows98. I backup all the Mysql data from remote web server to my local linux.. I have installed BDE Admin(for borland Delphi5). The database connection to Linux was successful. The problem I meet now is I only can read the Mysql data, but not allowed me to write the data, why ?

I think that in each table you want to modify, must exist a timestamp field. This works in Access at least. You can try with access and after that with your borland compiler.

maybe you misunderstand my question. I am not using Access, I just use Mysql with Borland Delphi or VB. I just do direct connection between mysql database with my application. That's mean database is at Linux platform, application is only run on window platform (use MyODBC).

Is anyone know where can I find an ActiveX
or DLL (free :-) ) that can I use to connect to MySQL from VB.
