sql results table

hi folks.

Id appreciate some advice before performing lots of trial and error =)

i'm showing the results of a SELECT query in a table and rather than showing all results want to show say 20 results at a time and allow the user to page through the results with 'Page' links in a search-engine style (www.google.com). whats the best way to do this? a general explanation might suffice.
