Permissions to Create Databases

Hello,

I have a hoster who is using the Ensim control panel and though he has phpMyAdmin installed, users must email him to create a database. This is too time consuming for me, and he has agreed to give me rights to create databases myself through phpMyAdmin--but we're having a problem.

It seems that the grants he is giving a test user aren't working. He gives a grant for the test user to create databases, but phpMyAdmin won't let him create a database when he is logged in under that user.

What is missing here? Is there some kind of mySQL permission or what? Could you all help with the grant permissions in order to allow me to create my own databases?

lol do you go around creating databases all day?

Have you tried looking in the MySQL manual and the .err files at all?

PS: this forum doesn't do bumping, you can reply to your own post a hundred times, nobody cares...

I did not intend to bump, my message was on the first page maybe two posts down--why would I need to bump?

Second of all, the MySQL site is down from where I am, and the PHPMyAdmin forum is not working and won't let me post. I did look at the phpMyAdmin documentation on their site, but he's done those things and it still not working.

Since I'm not sitting on his side, and don't know anything about this setup except to use the frontend of MyAdmin, then I thought maybe there was something someone else would know--which is the point of the forums, right?

And actually, YES, I do create alot of databases. I test alot of scripts due to being a web designer. I created 5 yesterday afternoon.

So if anyone has anything useful to add, I'd really appreciate it. Sorry for the rant.

So did this admin fellow read the mysql manual at all?

Then you are either have a huge number of clients, or you don't have much experience with databases. :-)

My question remains: did you or the admin read the mysql manual and did you or the admin look at the phpmyadmin manual?

I asked if anyone needed any more information to help. The list looked busy, as others were getting responses in the meantime, I assumed I did not have appropriate information. I asked if anyone needed more info to help. Sigh, I was just trying to get a little help, and give a little more info if someone needed it.

Why do you make this assumption? I'll be the first to admit I'm not a database God, but I'm trying to learn.

I did look at the admin manual, I can't get to mysql.org to see anything. I thought I answered this question in my previous post. I'll go elsewhere for help, obviously this is not the place.
