InnoDB and/or MyISAM ?

I use MySQL on a W2K server, with PHP & IIS.
I would like to know if I may use both InnoDB and MyISAM tables on the same time on the same MySQL server.
I would also like to know wich one is better.

Hi,

I used innodbs since a couple of month and now i change my database to postgresql cause innodb are not stable enough. First time it runs very good and so we put it in the live-system. But under heavy load we get server crashes. Only help was to re - import dumps. (hard procedure). Then i read an article in www.innodb.com about Memorylimit 2 GB on Linuxsystems.So i used SUN to do the job, but same procedure.

I take the hard bred. Hope you didn't the same failure.

My reasn to choose MySQL instead of PgSQL is that I had some hard times recovering from PgSQL crashes. Even if MySQL does not scale up as well as PgSQL, it is quite impossible to get index corruption on such a primitive system as MySQL.
I think I will go back to db2, hell, at least it is a step up from flatfiles ;-)

Hi Alain,

Innodb - tables need a long time to recover, too. I spend 2 hours in recovering. So innodb is no real solution for a database.
