Hi all,

What is the most efficient way of connecting / using a mysql connection.

Let me expand

I have a few pages that call several functions each. At the moment i connect to the database at the top of the page and all functions called within that page use the connection.

So ineffect the connection is used for all the functions.

I'm wondering is it more efficient to simply have each function connect and then disconnect ?

Ideas / suggestions.

What i'm after is speed

Is it faster to open one connection, do 14 things and close the connection,
or,
is it faster to open a connection, do one thing, close the connection, open the connection again, do one thing, close the connection, and repeat that 14 times.

It is faster to keep the connection open.
Especially because closing it is pointless if you are just going to re-open the connection.
