Problems with Mysql and win32

Hi there!
I'm running mysql 3.23.23 Beta for windows, on a Win98 SE machine.
A few days ago it was working fine, but today ...
First I tried to run a simple PHP script and it drop a can not connect to MySQL server on localhost. So I re-started Mysqld and nothing...
also mysql winadmin can not connect to mysql.
Free mascon is unable to do the same.
Please someone help me here, I have very important data on mysql and I need to retreive it
by the end of the week.

hi

first of all make backup of your mysql_data directory...

then try to uninstall mysql, then install the same version of mysql and copy your data back to data directory
