MySQL versions ????

I am confused everywhere I read I see that mysql is 4.0 on in alpha mode. Hmmm, well when I went to downloads 4.0 there was a 4.0 i386 release is this correct is there a 4.0 for i386/linux ??? Let me know what or when or where it is released.

is where I went to see that there is an RPM for Red Hat Linux .... Do I install this on my machine is this possible.

But is there on for XP ???
