Sorting question.

Hi,

Say I've got a DB with data entered as follows:

ID YEAR ITEM BLAH

1 1978 Car Used
2 1978 Car New
3 1979 Boat Used
4 1980 Car New
5 1980 Bike Used

Now I want it to order by ITEM, but list it in the order that Car, Boat, Bike appear.
i.e. the resulting table will be as follows:

ID YEAR ITEM BLAH

1 1978 Car Used
2 1978 Car New
4 1980 Car New
3 1979 Boat Used
5 1980 Bike Used

How can I do this?

Have tried "ORDER BY item DESC"?

No, I can't use ORDER BY item DESC because although in my example it happens to be alphabetical in a reverse order, the real DB isn't.
