Searching only 1 table in a sql db

hi,

i've made a simple forum and i kinda wanna make it a bit better by adding search, it only needs to search 1 table with 9 col's, and i've been looking for a GOOD tutorial bout searching a sql db and can't find 1, i've tryed mysql.com, all them at hotscripts, the 1 here and they dont explain just searching 1 table,

so can someone tell me where i can find a good tutorial please?
