Setting up an auction

I am tring to setup an online auction. It wont be anything big (like ebay or something like that). I just want to know if php and mysql will handle something like this and what would be a good way of doing this. If you have any ideas please email or respond to this topic.

that's the kind of thing they were built for.

bare in mind you will need some kind of membership database and system for inputting member details.

you will also need the auctions database and system for administering that as well as the front end to display auction information.

wont be a small task.
